Inspired by the music of Robert Glasper, Karriem Riggins, and Common, the RUCK Ensemble at the Frost School of Music creates original music utilizing the contributions of each member of the group.

Although the ensemble’s style tends to lean toward funk, hip hop, R&B, and jazz, other influences can be incorporated. The group normally consists of keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, rapper, and sometimes a singer. The goal of the group is to compose each song with a deep, funk-based groove that serves as the backdrop for an engaging message.

Emphasis is placed on song development, recording, and production, followed by preparation for a featured spot in CamFest, a showcase of contemporary Frost ensembles.
